YOU DON’T HAVE TO HAVE it all
IT DOES.
you're in the right place.
Maybe you came here feeling like you're supposed to be further along by now.
Maybe you're holding two completely opposite feelings at once and don't know what to do with that. Maybe you have never done this before and do not know where to start. Maybe you're healing — and still hurting — and wondering if that even makes sense.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
A lot of mental health spaces want to get you to the other side — to calm, to resolution, to "fixed."
We're not interested in tying up your story with a neat little bow, because that’s not really how it works.
“Fixing” is not what we're doing here. With/And is all about the process - the unglamorous, nonlinear, sometimes contradictory work of becoming. And we don't just hold that space for our clients. We're in it ourselves, too. We are experts in our fields, and we are both still figuring things out. There is something real and powerful about being in that messy middle together.
Real healing is nonlinear. It's contradictory. It's grieving and grateful. Lost and certain. Broken and becoming.
That binary idea that you can only feel one thing, be one thing, want one thing at a time? We push back on that. That's what With/And is built for — not the tidy version of you, but the full, complicated, real one. We hold space for the mess. It is not ‘either-or.’ With/And allows for the paradox, the "both at once,” because that is precisely where the truest version of you lives.
oh, and one more thing —WE KNOW THE PERSONAL IS POLITICAL.
The systems you're navigating, the identities you hold, the world in which you are doing this healing — none of that gets left at the door here.
WITH/AND is a full-circle moment
neither of us planned it, yet seems to have been fated in the stars.
We first met in the fall of 2019 when we co-facilitated a group for survivors of sexual violence.
Though our workplace chemistry was immediate, the friendship took a little longer. Alex felt skeptical at first about crossing the colleagues-to-besties threshold, but Brit’s contagious warm-and-fuzzies ultimately pulled her in.
We are different people from different backgrounds, but we kept finding ourselves aligned on the things that mattered most: how to show up for others, how to hold space for healing, and how to do our own work. We went on to build our beloved book club together which turned into late nights talking, sharing birthdays and holidays, and eventually, becoming each other’s chosen family.
SOME PEOPLE JUST STICK.
HI, I’M BRIT
i'm really glad
you're here.
I want to start with something that matters more to me than any title or credential:
I AM GENUINELY,
WHOLEHEARTEDLY IN
YOUR CORNER.
Like, embarrassingly so. If you have a dream, a thought, an idea — I will do everything I can to help make it happen with you. I celebrate your wins (and your losses) as if they're mine. I will ask a follow-up question about that thing you mentioned three weeks ago — because I actually thought about it.
Curiosity is basically my love language. I want to know how things work, why people do what they do, what's underneath the surface of everything. I ask a lot of questions. I mean it when I ask them. And when I care about something — and I really do care about things — I care all the way. No half-assing over here.
I'm a licensed social worker and a restorative justice practitioner, which means I've found professional language for things I was already doing: believing in people's capacity to heal, holding space for hard conversations, and trusting that repair is possible — even when it's complicated. Especially when it's complicated.
I also show up as my full self here, which means I bring my experiences as someone with invisible and chronic disabilities, a survivor of complex trauma, and as someone who lives in a larger body. These aren't footnotes — they shape how I see the world, who I center, and why I do this work.

she is, objectively, the most important detail on this entire page. She is our resident therapy dog – long ears, short legs, maximum sass – a specialist in tail wags & tough days.
HI, I’M
DR. ALEX LONG
However your story unfolded and led you to With/And,
i’m so glad you found us.
Though my own path has had plenty of twists, there’s been one main through line: my love of human stories. Before becoming a licensed clinical psychologist, I studied film & television, and I worked in the industry. The way a person’s life story – from early attachment relationships to future goals, and every formative experience along the way – shapes their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and how we relate to one another, fascinates me.
In creative writing, there’s a paradoxical concept of character development where you want the character you’re creating to be totally unique – such that they haven’t existed before in other stories – and totally relatable – such that anyone reading can see parts of themselves in that character. Isn’t that a reflection of the duality of the human experience? We are the only ones who truly know what it feels like to be in our own shoes, and, at the same time, we are all connected by the emotions we universally experience across cultures and eras.
My therapeutic approach is an integration of person-centered (you are the expert on your own lived experience), contemporary psychodynamic (your early childhood experiences and significant life events influence how you move through the world), and third-wave cognitive behavioral (Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness) strategies, applied thoughtfully throughout your therapy journey. I also prioritize the relational process: how our therapeutic relationship with each other shapes the safe, honest space through which we explore your interpersonal patterns. Throughout therapy, I translate evidence-based psychological interventions into accessible strategies and skills that I, too, practice in my own life – with you.

OUTSIDE OF work
you may find me knitting, reading (primarily audiobooks, #thanksLibby), having a dance party with my kiddos, snuggling with my doggos, daydreaming with my partner, trying new foods, screaming karaoke, or FaceTiming with my friends and family around the world. I speak conversational Spanish and French. My favorite sports to watch are ice hockey and drag.
WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING
WITH/AND was made for you if:
You're tired of feeling like you have to choose between different parts of yourself
You want support that is warm & skilled, real & clinical
You are a cycle breaker & asking yourself: what patterns end with me?
Healing requires honesty. We name the harmful histories of our community. We reckon with how colonial legacies, capitalist structures, and interlocking systems of power continue to shape our lives. We commit to doing better. We pledge to actively listen to and amplify marginalized voices, to examine how these histories show up in our own practices, and to take meaningful action in how we build relationships, allocate resources, and show up in our community. This is ongoing work. We hold ourselves accountable to it.
